吳昌碩(1844 – 1927)浙江安吉人,初名俊,後改名俊卿,字香補、香圃,中年字蒼石、昌碩、昌石、倉碩,因得友人所贈古缶,故號缶廬、缶道人,別號有樸巢、苦鐵、破荷亭長、五湖印丐等,七十歲後又署大聾。中國近代傑出的藝術家,是當時公認的上海畫壇、印壇領袖,名滿天下。吳派篆刻的創始人,書法、繪畫、篆刻、詩詞無一不精,繪畫以篆書筆法入畫,線條凝煉遒勁,氣度恢宏古樸,渾厚蒼莽吳昌碩的作品詩、書、畫、印配合得宜,融為一體,對藝術創作主張“出己意”、“貴有我”,因此他的作品具有濃厚的“性格特點”。其藝術風尚對中國近現代畫壇影響極大,對日本影響也很大。
Wu Changshuo (1844-1927) who was a famous painter, calligrapher and seal-carver in the late Qing Dynasty. Changshuo is his courtesy name.  His original name is Jun, later Junqing. As a leading painter during the early twentieth century, he was noted for rejuvenating the art of painting flowers and birds by introducing an expressive, individualistic style more generally associated with literati painting.
